Drawing on a background in army intelligence and time spent living and working in Iran, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, Hugo brings a broad understanding of the Middle East’s commercial environment to casework across a variety of sectors.
Since joining Raedas Hugo has supported several multijurisdictional investigations including global asset tracing, bribery and corruption issues, corporate fraud and contentious disputes. In the process he has honed a range of open source research and creative networking techniques.
Hugo has a focus on matters relating to the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. Recently, he helped co-ordinate a contentious counterintelligence matter and a MENA family dispute. In other matters, Hugo has conducted fieldwork in East Africa; conducted complex corporate mapping exercises; supported declarations for section §1782 applications; and gathered information in support of litigation PR strategies.
Prior to joining the firm Hugo worked in various analytical positions including as an Iran Analyst and contracting for an investigations firm specialising in African mining issues. He holds a BA in History from SOAS and an MLitt in Iranian Studies from the University of St Andrews.
Hugo is conversational in Farsi and studied Persian languages at the University of Tehran. He currently serves as an Intelligence Analyst in the British Army Reserves.
